Former Chief Minister and Member of Parliament Basavaraj Bommai said that those who undergo GTTC (Government Tool Room and Training Centre) training have a promising future.
He stressed that the industrial sector offers opportunities in fields such as Electronics and Computer Science, and that completing a diploma through GTTC can also serve as a pathway to engineering.
Speaking at the inauguration of a newly constructed GTTC training complex in Nalogal village of Haveri taluk on Wednesday,he said they have established an engineering college in Haveri.
While setting up an engineering college is important, trained youth are essential to meet technical demands. That’s why ITI and GTTC training are crucial.Those who complete GTTC training have good prospects.
There are job opportunities in various fields of the industrial sector like electronics and computer science. A diploma can even help in pursuing engineering.
He said that tool and Die Making is a key area in this training.Those who learn Tool and Die Making have great opportunities.
Speaking from his personal experience,he said after completing the engineering in 1982,he couldn’t find a job immediately.
“I underwent six months of training at GTTC in Rajajinagar,Bengaluru,and soon after,I was offered a job at Tata Motors as an engineer.This training helped me get that job.Getting into Tata Motors then was as valuable as getting into an IIT today.That’s how significant GTTC courses are.If students realize this, they will learn with interest.”
The former CM recalled that during his tenure as Chief Minister, he had approved the setting up of GTTCs in Nelogal and Shiggaon,and expressed happiness that the current government has continued and launched them.
“This will benefit the city of Haveri and surrounding rural areas. Students should make the most of this.Spread awareness so that more students enroll.Medical Education Minister Dr.Sharan Prakash Patil has allocated Rs.30 crore for this.
Bommai stressed that technical knowledge is vital in today’s era.For India to progress, it needs a technically skilled workforce.
Once,population was seen as a burden, but now our Prime Minister is giving utmost importance to skill development.
A separate ministry has even been set up for this.As Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Skill Development,I’m ready to extend necessary support from the Centre.
