The Nelamangala police have arrested a 25-year-old woman who killed her new born baby in a pot used to boil water in the wee hours of Sunday.
The accused Radha was married to Pawan,an autorickshaw driver two years ago and delivered a baby boy one and half months ago.She was staying with her parents house after her first delivery .
We suspect that the accused was suffering from postpartum depression and upset that Pawan stopped visiting her.She was upset for the last few days as the child was crying unconsolably as she is unable to feed him.
Dejected with this,she picked up the baby drowned in the water pot used to heat water and returned to sleep.The incident came to light on Monday morning when her parents noticed the baby was missing and questioned her .
Radha tried to cook up a story that some unknown person came in the middle of the night and took away the baby,following which the parents alerted the police.
The parents later searched the house to find the baby in the pot .
The police rushed to the spot and questioned Radha . Suspecting her behaviour and change of statement everytime,the police picked her up for questioning.
A detailed questioning led her to confess to the crime .
Based on her confession, the police arrested Radha charging her under section 103 ( murder) for further investigation.
