Elderly Conwoman lured nurse with 10 brass coins & made away with her gold chain worth Rs.3 Lakhs in Bengaluru

The Basavanagudi police are on the lookout for elderly conwoman who lured a 42-year-old nurse with 10 brass coins and made away with her gold chain worth three lakh.

Though the incident occurred on Tuesday,the victim , Manjula BN, approached the police on Saturday only after she went to the jewellers to check about the 10 “gold coins,which she had bartered with her 39 grams of gold chain.

According to the complainant,Manjula was on her way to Gandhi Bazaar for shopping in DVG road on Tuesday when she confronted a woman aged around 60 years.

The woman asked her help stating that she had ten gold coins and came to sell them and get the jewels.She asked Ms.Majunla to check the weight of one of the gold coin.

The victim agreed to help and went to a near-by gold shop,The shop owners checked the gold coin and told her that it looked like gold but cant check the authenticity since he did not have the machine.He then weigh the gold coin and told that it is is around 1.1 mili grams.

Manjula came and handed over the coin and told her the details.The woman dragged her to one of the byline and showed ten more coins offered to give it to her in exchange of her gold chain.

She also told her not to discuss this with anyone and she had to decided about the offer on the spot .

Excited by the the offer,Manjula handed over her gold chain and took the gold coins and returned home happy.

The cheating came to light two days later when she went to check about the coins for a deal and found that she had bartered her gold chain with ten gold plated brass coins.

The police have advised people not to resort to such deals and report to the police whenever they find anyone suspicious .
