BJP should return to power in the state”.

Former Chief Minister and MP Basavaraj Bommai has predicted that mid-term elections to the Karnataka Legislative Assembly will be held in 2026,even before the taluk and zilla panchayat elections.

He was speaking after inaugurating a felicitation ceremony for the newly appointed office-bearers of various wings of the BJP’s Dambal Mandal under the Ron Assembly Constituency and honoring the outgoing office-bearers.

The event was held at Sri Jagadguru Tontadarya Kala Bhavana in Dambal village, Mundaragi Taluk of Gadag district here on Friday.

He said politics is changing rapidly and in just two years, there is a growing rebellion against the Congress. People of the state are disillusioned with this government.

During our (BJP) tenure, they had introduced scholarships for farmers’ children, which this government discontinued.

They provided diesel subsidies to farmers — that too was stopped. “We had supplied pipes and pumps on subsidy — even that has been halted. Farmers are not getting quality seeds and fertilizers. Students are not receiving good education.

Hospitals are running short of medicines. This is an anti-poor government.Corruption is rampant everywhere — from getting documents to building houses to obtaining ration cards”.

Spike in prices

The former CM said since the Congress came to power in the state, there has been a hike in electricity tariffs, fuel prices, and stamp duty.

Even the price of milk has gone up. The government has collected nearly Rs 60,000 crore in additional taxes from the public. In just two years, they have borrowed over Rs 3 lakh crore.

This amounts to about Rs 1 lakh debt per citizen. The next government will have to repay this debt. They have driven the state into bankruptcy. They need to create awareness against this at the Mandal level.

Bommai said on the other hand, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is working for the development of all communities.

Around 27 crore people have risen out of poverty. Nearly 12 crore houses have been built. Direct financial assistance is being credited to the accounts of 60 crore farmers.

Roads, infrastructure, and railways have seen significant improvements. The entire world is admiring the leadership of Narendra Modi.

When Congress was in power, there were bomb blasts in cities like Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Mumbai. Today, when a blast occurred in Kashmir, our forces went into Pakistan and gave a fitting reply. Our country now has strong leadership.

The MP said when he was Irrigation Minister, they brought irrigation to 7 lakh hectares. This government hasn’t even managed irrigation for 10,000 acres.

They introduced the Bhagyalakshmi scheme for girl children, provided bicycles, and more. If they want a pro-people government, BJP must return to power. ” I have never seen such a corrupt and anti-people government in my life’.

He said Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has betrayed the backward classes. He conducted a caste census but failed to implement it.

Now they’re redoing the census. Corruption is rampant in the SC/ST corporations. This is a government that is anti-Dalit and anti-farmer. We must inform the people about this.

Mid-term elections to the Assembly will be held in 2026, even before the Taluk and Zilla Panchayat elections. Kalakappa Bandi must be re-elected. Let them take a pledge and work with determination. Unity is strength. The coming days will once again be the days of BJP, he declared.

On this occasion, several leaders and workers were present, including former Ron MLA Kalakappa Bandi, BJP district president Raju Kuradagi, Dambal Mandal president Andappa Harogeri, outgoing president Ravi Karigar, Ron Mandal president Umesh Mallapur, and senior leaders Karabasappa Hanchinal and Venkangouda Patil.
