516th Birth Anniversary Celebrations of Nadaprabhu Kempegowda–Naveen Kumar Raju

The 516th birth anniversary of Nadaprabhu Kempegowda,the visionary statesman,exemplary administrator,and founder of Bengaluru City,will be celebrated on Friday,June 27, 2025.

The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP)-level event will be held grandly at the Dr.Rajkumar Glass House located within the BBMP head office premises.

*Pur Jyothis from 7 Historic Locations:

On the day of the celebration,at 7:00 AM,Pur Jyothis (sacred ceremonial flames) will be lit from the four city boundary towers—Lalbagh,Mekhri Circle,Kempambudhi Lake,and Halasuru and three other historically significant sites: Kempapura in Magadi Taluk, Avati in Devanahalli Taluk, and Hutridurga in Kunigal Taluk.

These seven Pur Jyothis, under the leadership of respective ministers,will converge at the Kempegowda Bhavan construction site near Summanahalli Circle on the Outer Ring Road (Magadi Road), where they will be received with due reverence.

*Floral Tributes to Statues:

As part of the celebrations,floral tributes will be offered to Nadaprabhu Kempegowda’s statues at three key locations by the Chief Minister,Deputy Chief Minister, Ministers,and other dignitaries:

*9:30 AM:Statue of Nadaprabhu Kempegowda near the Bengaluru International Airport.

*10:30 AM:Statues of Nadaprabhu Kempegowda and Mahatyagi Lakshmidevi within the BBMP headquarters premises.

10:45 AM:Statue of Nadaprabhu Kempegowda in front of the Vidhana Soudha.

*Foundation Stone Laying Ceremony for Kempegowda Bhavan:

At around 11:00 AM,the seven Pur Jyothis will be received at the proposed Kempegowda Bhavan construction site near Summanahalli Circle on Magadi Road. Following this,at 12:15 PM,the foundation stone for the Kempegowda Bhavan will be laid by the Chief Minister,Deputy Chief Minister,esteemed pontiffs, ministers, MLAs,and other prominent dignitaries.

*State-Level Ceremony:

A state-level ceremonial event will take place at Dr. Babu Jagjivan Ram Bhavan near Summanahalli at 12:30 PM, during which the State-Level Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Awards will be conferred on individuals who have made significant contributions in various fields.

*BBMP-Level Celebrations:

The BBMP-level Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Jayanthi celebrations* will be held at the Dr.Rajkumar Glass House in the BBMP headquarters premises. A cultural program will take place from 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM, followed by the presentation of the Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Awards and recognition of best officers and staff at 6:00 PM.
