The Tavarekere police have registered a case against unidentified person who slashed the udder of a cow belonging to a farmer in Tavarekere in the outskirts of the city on Friday.
The cow later died due to excessive bleeding even though veterinarian made futile attempt to save the cow and performed surgery to save it from bleeding .
The cow belongs to Maribasavaiah from Sulivara Village which ventured into the farm of Gurusiddappa to grazer.
Maribasavaiah alleged that Gurusiddappa had a grudge against him for not voting in favour of his candidate in a local election and to avenge this he had committed the offence.
The incident came to light on Friday when few villagers noticed the cow lying down in a pool of blood writhing in pain.They informed Maribasavaiah who rushed to the spot and called the veterinarian for medication.
The Tavarekere police have taken up a case and are investigating.
