In an effort to enhance capabilities of social media monitoring cell with the proposed AI-powered platforms and dedicated social media monitoring cells,the city police commissioner on Monday set up a coordinating team to crack whip on viral videos and hate speech which disturb the law and order .
City police commissioner,Seemanth Kumar Singh,said held a meeting with the officials of intel,crime and social media monitoring cell personnel and chalked out coordinated measures to tackle the menace .
According to him,aim is to utilizing technology and coordination to track misinformation,hate speech,and other unlawful content,through viral videos and fake news at the earliest before it could escalate to law and order problem.
The classic case is recent incident of private firm employee was slapped by rapido bike rider,which went viral and taken different turn on social media .
The issue when analysed had a different version and further damage controlled,a senior police officer part of the probe said .
The video of bike rider slapping woman and she fell on the ground,went viral with hundreds of comments leading to hatred and anguish among the social media users.The issue was different when the case was analysed and taken necessary action.
In the meeting Mr.Singh stressed the need of identifying the fake news at the earliest and take immediate measures to contain such incidents.
The officials have also been instructed to identity the people who spread fake news and take strict action to ensure such incidents should not be repeated .
