The Upparpet police on Saturday arrested a 44-year-old from Vijayapura who was offering to help candidates clear competitive exams .
Senior officer said,Based on a tip off,a team of police led by PSI,Bheemsen Ghatge, visited Sajjan Lodge in Gandhi Nagar and verified the activities of the accused before arresting him.
The accused has been identified as Sikandar Chowdhary,native of Indi taluk in Vijayapura district.
During investigation it was revealed that the accused was approaching the candidates through middlemen offering to clear competitive exams including KAS,PDO and PSI for a price .
Though middlemen he was meeting the candidates at the lodge to clinch the deal .
The accused was taken into custody and further investigations are on to ascertain his network,a senior officer,part of the investigation,said.
The accused has been booked under unlawful assembly, cheating and criminal conspiracy for further investigation.
This is the second such incident where the police had arrested,Govindaraju,49,Chief Ticket Inspector in the railway department,on December 29,offering to help candidates clear the Karnataka Administrative Service (KAS) exam and PDO exams and taking money from them.
