The Chamarajpet police on Monday arrested a 43-year-old domestic help for stealing cash and gold valuables from her employer’s house worth Rs.70 lakh.
The accused Uma,resident of Ilyas Nagar in Chamarajpet working at the house of Radha RK,for the last three months.
Senior officer told reporters,The owner of the house had kept Rs.67 lakh cash belonging to her sister along with the 1.4 kilos of gold valuables and 2.4 kilos of silver articles at the locker of the house.
Uma noticed huge cash and valuables and stole them as she was suffering from financial problem and to clear the loans she had incurred.
The theft came to light when Radha wanted to buy a plot in Chamarajpet and checked the money to finalize the deal and found the cash and valuables were missing on June 9.
On suspicion she checked with Uma but she feigned ignorance based on which a complaint was filed.
Based on the complaint the Chamarajpet police took Uma into custody and a detailed questioning led her to confess .
Based on the confession the police have recovered Rs. 57.5 lakh cash and 211grams of gold and silver articles total worth Rs.70.16 from her.
The police are further investigating to ascertain her criminal background said a senior officer.
