In addition to their regular duties of managing traffic,the city traffic police personnel have been tasked to create awareness about fuel conservation and pollution control among motorists.
Apart from managing daily traffic snarls,police officers stationed at key junctions are educating commuters about the impact of fuel wastage and vehicle emissions on the environment.
As part of this new initiative,the Byatarayanapura traffic police are approaching the motorists waiting at the signals with the eco-friendly messages,and urging motorists to adopt simple yet impactful habits—such as switching off engines at long signals,maintaining vehicle health, and reduce pollution which is impacting global warming.
The police personnel deployed at the staff have been asked not only to manage the traffic but also encourage responsible behaviour among the motorists to contributes to a cleaner,greener city.
“Motorists often overlook the cumulative impact of their daily actions.
A few minutes of idling at signals or aggressive driving not only wastes fuel but adds significantly to air pollution,”said a senior traffic police officer.
“With rising fuel prices and deteriorating air quality, public awareness is the need of the hour.”
To begin with the campaign has been started at RR Arch Signal and will be extended to other major signals having longer durations he added.
