The High Grounds police on Tuesday registered an FIR against the BJP’s IT cell head,Amit Malviya,and Republic TV anchor,Arnab Goswami for spreading false information about the Congress party having an office in Türkiye.
Based on a complaint by the Indian Youth Congress’s legal cell head,Shrikant Swaroop BN,they are charged under BNS Sections 192 (wantonly giving provocation with intent to cause riot-if rioting be committed) and 352 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace).
The complaint stated that the accused have the fabricated claim that the Istanbul Congress Centre in Türkiye is the office of the Indian National Congress (INC).
This act was executed with clear and undeniable criminal intent to deceive the Indian public,defame a major political institution,manipulate nationalist sentiments, incite public unrest,and undermine national security and democratic integrity.
The complaint further accused the two of exploitation of national sentiments, defamation of a political institution and incitement of public unrest in the wake of present geo political developments.
Their calculated misuse of influence to spread falsehoods with criminal intent demands the harshest response.
The complaint also urge the Press Council of India, NBDSA,Ministry of Information and Broadcasting,CBI, and other law enforcement agencies to treat this complaint as a National emergency.
The accused by be dealt strictly to arrest the accused, dismantle their disinformation networks,and restore public confidence in the rule of law,”the complaint stated.
