A 14-year-old differently-abled girl, Khushi,was found dead near a railway track on the outskirts of Bhadrapura Hakki-Pikki Colony in Ramanagara taluk on Monday.
The victim identified as Khushi was a specially abled with hearing and speech problem.She has a single mother with three siblings who are also specially abled .
The victim was studying 8th standard at a residential school had come home on vacation.She along with other children attended a birthday program at a neighbouring house and went missing since then.
When she did not returned home even after later night, her family along with neighbours started searching for her before filing a missing complaint with the police.
Few villagers found the dead body with multiple injuries and semi disrobed condition.The Bidadi police rushed to the spot and shifted the body for the post mortem before taking up a case of murder.
The villagers soon staged a protest accusing that the girl has been raped and murdered and demanded a detailed investigations into the incident.
Villagers pointed out that the area is poorly lit,lacks basic infrastructure, and is frequented by drug users and miscreants, led to the incident.
They demanded Justice for the victim,improved infrastructure,including street lighting,stronger police presence and patrols in the area to monitor law and order.
The police considering the gravity of the situation formed a special team and pressed Dog squads and fingerprint experts to service to expediate the investigation.
MLA HC.Balakrishna and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar visited the village and met the grieving family assuring necessary action .
Superintendent of Police Ramanagara,Srinivasa Gowda who also visited the spot said that Initial examination shows no external signs of sexual assault.
However the police are awaiting post mortem report to ascertain sexual assault .
The police have also rounded up few suspects and questioning them as part of the investigations .
Mr.Shivakumar later visited the family along with the district administration officials who paid a compensation amount of Rs.4.12 lakh from the district administration and Rs.50,000 from the panchayath to the family of the victim.
Terming this as unfortunate incident,DK Shivakumar said that strict action will be taken against the accused and will be tracked down soon.
The Family said that they don not suspect anyone . However a detailed and impartial investigations will be in conducted to ascertain the motive of the crime,he said .
