Woman BPO employee drowns in Huskur Lake in Bengaluru;friend alleges honour killing

A 20-year-old BPO employee was died after she drowned in a lake while returning home with her father on a two wheeler after attending a panchayath over a marriage dispute in Hebbagodi on Tuesday.

The deceased Sahana,was engaged to her relative but was in love with Nitin,21,a factory employee resident of the Hebbagodi .

Sahana, was second PU drop out and working in a BPO while her father Ramamurthy working in a handloom unit.

Senior officer told reporters,Sahana refused to marry her relative as she was in love with Nitin and fought with her parents.

Meanwhile Nitin had also approached the family and relatives of Sahana and requested them to allow him to marry their daughter .

However Family refused and had a called Panchayath to decide upon this where Sahana reiterated before everyone that she is not interested to marry her relative and wanted to marry Nitin.

The family sought time to decide and returned home, While the mother and younger sister along with other relatives went home in a car,Ramamurthy asked Sahana to come with him on his two wheeler .

However while crossing the lake,Ramamurthy told the police that she lost control and the two wheeler plunged into the lake .

While Ramamurthy managed to swim back to the safety Sahana who did not know how to swim drowned and her body was recovered later by the fire and emergency service personnel and Wednesday.

Ramamurthy told the police that he did not had food and proper sleep because of this tension and hence lost balance while riding two wheeler and plunged into the lake.However Nitin cried foul and accused the father of murder.

Based on the complaint,the police have registered a case against Ramamurthy charging him under death due to negligence while awaiting post mortem to further the investigation.
