19-year-old student of BSC nursing course ended life in her hostel room in Harohalli in Ramanagara due to alleged harassment from the management on Wednesday.
The deceased has been identified as,Anamika Vineeth,a native of Kannur in Kerala,was a first-year BSC nursing at Dayananda Sagar University in Kanakapura and staying in the hostel at the same campus .
The deceased body was found hanging inside her room at around 9.30 pm on Tuesday.Anamika was staying alone as her roommate was away on sick leave for the last 15 days.
The incident came to light when the hostel staff checked the door after noticing no movements inside the room for many hours.
After repeated attempts of knocking the door and even called the mobile phone which was ringing from inside but could not yield no response,the staff called the security guard.
The staff later used the master key to open the door and found Anamika hanging to the ceiling fan using the veil .
The police based on the information rushed to the spot and shifted the body for post-mortem before conducting a spot inspections.
The police have recovered a death note written in Malayalam and sent it to the FSL for detailed analysis .
Initial probe revealed that Anamika was under pressure due to academic performance which is also being probe.
The students alleged that Anamika ws being harassed by the management and slapped her fine after accusing of malpractice in the class and harassed her .
She was under depression and wanted to quit the studies.
The police have also inquired with the classmates and college staff while recording the statement of her parents who alleged harassment from the college led her to take the extreme step.
Based on the complaint,the police have taken up a case against the institution under section 108 (abetment to suicide ) for further investigation.
