Two Auto drivers booked for abducting and assaulting goods vehicle driver over road age

A 22-year-old goods vehicle driver was abducted and assaulted by a two autorickshaw drivers to extort Rs. 4,000 from him on the pretext of road rage near Windsor manner bridge in the early hours of Sunday.

The victim Somanath and his colleague Nirupadi , working at a construction site in Kengeri were on their way to work .

They had gone to drop their manager to home in Chikkaballapur after he was feeling unwell and returning home.

While the duo reached windsor manner bridge at around 1.30 am,two men in autorickshaw intercepted their vehicle and dragged Somanath out and assaulted him.

They accused demanded money for repair from him for damaging their vehicle.The duo assaulted Somanath and Nirupadi and snatched their mobile phones .

Shocked Somanath while trying to reason with them following which they forced him into the autorickshaw and sped away.

The accused took Somanath to an isolated place assaulted him and made him to call his family demanding money.

The accused threatened to kill Somanath if the money for the damaged is not paid.

Scared family members managed to arrange Rs.4,000 and transferred online following which the accused released Somanath.

The victim later approached the police and filed a compliant based on which the police have registered a case of abduction and criminal intimidation against the accused.The police are now trying to track down the accused through money trail .

Incidents of extortion through fake accidents and road rage are on the rise.Many road users raised complaint with the police on social media account that people trying to extort money.

Taking cognisance of this issue,City Police Commissioner,B.Dayananda had instructed the police to book FIRs against the mischief mongers and even open rowdy-sheets against them.
