“
State Government has lost control over officials”
Haveri:The state government has lost control over its officials. An unregulated administration is prevailing, with no one taking responsibility, alleged former Chief Minister and MP Basavaraj Bommai.
Speaking at a press conference following a public interaction meeting in Haveri on Thursday,he raised concerns about contractors not carrying out their work.
It is a big question why contractors are not working in Haveri. There should be an investigation into the timelines and local regulations concerning the contracts.
Under the Union Government’s AMRUT scheme, funds have been released for drinking water projects. It is important to assess where the work has commenced and its current status. They need to bring in a new contractor to complete the stalled work.
The MP said he had addressed this issue in the DISHA meeting, highlighting that the previous contractor’s legal proceedings were causing inconvenience to the public.
The state government must prepare a new Detailed Project Report (DPR) and allocate funds immediately to restart the project.
“Despite these decisions, the government has not responded.I will continue to follow up and ensure the comprehensive drinking water project is implemented”.
The former CM accused the state government of losing its grip on officials and charged that they have compromised with the officials.
As a result,no work is being done, and there is no accountability or fear among them. This is an unregulated and chaotic administration.
Pointing out the poor condition of rural roads,Bommai said he had requested funding from the state government for their repair under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana. He would secure the necessary approvals for the projects.
Regarding the Shivamogga-Ranebennur railway project, the former CM said he had instructed the district officials to expedite the land acquisition process.
A meeting will be held next week to resolve the issues concerning the railway line.”We will begin the process at the earliest,”he said.
For the Gadag-Yalavigi railway project, Bommai noted that the Union Government had allocated Rs.200 crore in the budget and the state government has to provide its share of funds and complete the land acquisition process.
He has written to the Chief Minister regarding this. According to the information provided by officials, the land acquisition will be completed by March.
He will pressurize the state government to release the funds promptly to commence the work.
