Manmohan Singh Laid a Strong Foundation for India’s Economic Growth,” Says Basavaraj Bommai

Hubballi:Former Prime Minister Dr.Manmohan Singh’s demise has deeply saddened me, said MP and former Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai. As an economist and Prime Minister, he led the nation for ten years and brought significant changes to the country’s economy, he stated.

Dr. Manmohan Singh, with his strong connections to international organizations like the World Bank and IMF, played a crucial role in stabilizing the nation.

As the Governor of the Reserve Bank of India,he was instrumental in implementing various schemes for the country’s development. His contributions laid the groundwork for India’s significant economic growth, Bommai remarked.

Dr. Singh was a gentleman politician and a visionary statesman. The nation has lost a leader who consistently prioritized the country’s welfare.

He made several forward-thinking decisions, the benefits of which are being reaped by the country today.Unlike publicity-seeking politicians, he practiced grounded and realistic politics.

He took some unpopular but necessary decisions in the nation’s interest. His resolute stance and wisdom were evident on many occasions.

Manmohan Singh laid a strong foundation for India to compete with countries like China, the US,and Europe. The collaboration between then-Prime Minister P.V. Narasimha Rao and Finance Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh was devoid of political rivalry, which enabled them to bring about fundamental changes to the established system.

Great leaders often emerge unexpectedly, unbound by political pressures or expectations, and deliver extraordinary results.

Dr.Singh’s initiatives in globalization and liberalization attracted substantial foreign investments, saving India from the brink of economic collapse.

His policies provided immense encouragement to small, medium, and large-scale industries and brought fiscal discipline to the government.

The Right to Information Act, introduced under his leadership, empowered citizens with the right to access information, Bommai highlighted.

He also emphasized Dr. Singh’s attempts to bring about political reform. Although his party leadership did not allow certain changes, his clean hands, pure intentions, and firm decisions were notable.

The India-US Civil Nuclear Agreement stands out as one of his significant contributions. Dr. Singh served the nation with utmost sincerity and integrity, and his character remains an ideal for all politicians, Bommai said.

His loss is an irreplaceable one for the nation. I pray that God grants eternal peace to his soul and provides his family and admirers the strength to endure this loss, he expressed in his condolences.
