Tamil Nadu’s Makkalai Thedi Maruthuvam Scheme Reaches Two Crore Beneficiaries.

Key Highlights:

Over 1 crore people with hypertension and 49.45 lakh with diabetes have received medications.

5.40 lakh individuals have benefited from palliative care.

7.25 lakh people have received physiotherapy treatment.

Minister for Health,Ma.Subramanian,emphasized the scheme’s impact,stating that it has been instrumental in improving the health outcomes of millions of Tamil Nadu residents.He also highlighted the scheme’s recognition by the UN Inter-Agency Task Force.

Addressing criticisms from the opposition,Mr. Subramanian pointed out that the previous AIADMK government’s “Amma Clinics” lacked adequate staffing and funding.

MTM continues to be a cornerstone of the Tamil Nadu government’s efforts to improve access to quality healthcare for all citizens.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Thursday (19th December 2024) celebrated a significant milestone for the state’s flagship healthcare program,Makkalai Thedi Maruthuvam (MTM).

The scheme,which provides home-based healthcare services for chronic conditions like hypertension and diabetes,has now reached over two crore beneficiaries.

To mark the occasion,Mr.Stalin visited A.Sundarambal,a 55-year-old resident of Nanjanapuram village near Thindal,and presented her with a medical kit.

He also interacted with another beneficiary,Vasantha,60, who shared her positive experience with the physiotherapy treatment offered under the scheme.

Launched in August 2021,MTM covers 385 rural blocks and 21 corporations across the state.It provides a comprehensive range of services,including medication delivery, physiotherapy, and palliative care.
