Lokayukta raids BESCOM and BWSSB offices in Bengaluru following public complaints and unearthed series of discrepancies,irregularities and corrupt practices

Lokayukta officials on thursday conducted series of inspections on the 45 offices of BESCOM and BWSSB and unearthed series of discrepancies

,irregularities and corrupt practices .

The surprise inspections according to the officials were carried based on over 140 complaints of corruption and inefficiency by members of the general public.

Several teams of officials led by senior officials of Lokayukta visited different offices including 25 BESCOM offices and 20 BWSSB offices situated in and around the city in one of the team led by Lokayukta BS.Patil,who inspected the BESCOM office at Yelahanka Satellite town,said that large scale irregularities,nepotism and corrupt practices were found among the officials and found unaccounted cash,and missing records.

Notices will be issued to the officials concerned seeking explanation followed by a detailed probe and necessary action,he said.,

Justice Patil further said that major complaints received by Lokayukta office is against the BESCOM.The highest traps carried out by Lokayukta this year is also against the BESCOM department,he said .

The failure to maintain a proper records which is mandatory document crucial for ensuring departmental accountability,no cash register maintained and the absence of employees at the office are some of the major irregularities found during the inspections.
