Superintendent of govt home for girls booked by Chikkaballapur women police for torturing minor inmates brutally and forcing them to perform daily chores

The Chikkaballapur women police have booked Superintendent of government home for girls and house keeping staffer for torturing the minor inmates brutally while forcing them to perform daily chores at the centre.

The home presently housing around 19 minor under children for rehabilitation was supervised by Mamatha M and Saraswathamma as house keeping staff .

The duo allegedly tortured and beat up two minor girls in separate incidents for discipling them.

In one instance a 16-year-old inmate was beaten up with stick and plastic pipe after they found her using the mobile phone of one of the staff member which kept for charging .

Even though the accused claimed that the punishment was to discipline the inmate,it amounts to violations of Juvenile justice act.

In another incident,the accused tied a 10-year-old girl with window grill and assaulted because she was fighting with the other inmates regularly.

The incident came to light recently during the Child welfare committee members visited the home for inspections and spoke to the inmates .

The CWC submitted a report to the Deputy Commissioner of Chikkaballapur district for necessary action.

The inquiry found that the duo not only subjected the inmates to physical torture and verbal abuses but also force them to do daily chores like a weeping,mopping and cleaning which the accused Saraswathamma was assigned .

This amount not only to corporal punishment and violation of JJ Act but also violations of child rights.

Based on the complaint filed by,Nautaj B,senior official from the DC office, the women police charged the duo under section 118 (Voluntarily causing hurt or grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means),198 (knowingly disobeys any direction of the law),352 (Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace)and also under various section of the JJ act.

The district administration also suspended the duo for further investigations.
