Rag picker feared drowned in Varthur lake

An 18-year-old Rag picker was fear drowned in a storm water drain near Varthur lake in white field on Thursday.

The victim Izrul Sheikh,from West Bengal was living with his family in labourers colony, was picking waste material at storm water drain near a construction site behind Varthur lake when he accidentally slipped and drowned in the drain.

Passers-by noticed and rushed to his help but could not trace his due to heavy flow in the water.The incident occurred at around 10 am .

Based on the information,the whitefield police rushed to the spot and alerted the fire and emergency service personnel who reached the spot and conducted search operation to trace him But after several hours the operation was called off as there was no trace of body.

The police have taken up a case based on the complaint and the rescue operation will resume on Friday ,
