AHMEDABAD: Fake Banks.. Police.. Now Courts have also joined this list. The fake court that has been giving “judgments” for the past five years in the capital city of Gujarat has come to a standstill. The police arrested Morris Samuel Christian, who set up a fake tribunal and gave verdicts as a judge. Samuel’s followers acted as court staff and lawyers. Police said Samuel had created a real court atmosphere at his office in Gandhinagar. The matter came to light when the Registrar of Ahmedabad City Civil Court filed a complaint in the city’s Karaj Police Station. Accused Samuel passed orders in favor of his client in 2019 regarding government land. He then issued an order directing the district collector to include his client’s name in the land revenue records. Samuel appealed to the City Civil Court through another lawyer seeking enforcement of this order. He has also attached the duplicate orders issued by him to this petition. Samuel Bandaram was exonerated when the court registrar found that the orders were fake.
Samuel’s fake court has been running for the past five years. The accused used to cast a net by identifying the parties whose land dispute cases were pending in the City Civil Court. He introduces himself as an official mediator appointed by the government. He would then summon the petitioners to his ‘court’. There he acts as the presiding officer of the tribunal and passes judgments and orders favorable to his clients. He takes money from them.
