Former Chief Minister and MP Basavaraj Bommai has said that the high command has decided to grant his son Bharat Bommai the ticket for the Shiggaon constituency, considering the interests of the party, the current political situation, and the constituency.
Talking to reporters here on Sunday, the former CM said he has bowed to the party’s decision, as they have placed trust in him and given him this responsibility.
“Whatever may be in my heart, I bow to the party’s decision for the sake of the party, society, and the workers.
I had asked for two days’ time, but the announcement was made without giving me that time.National President J.P. Nadda did not even give me the chance to speak. Nadda said.
We have decided to give the ticket to your son.You have a reputation there, and winning is important. The survey report is also in favor of Bharat.’
Bommai said Union Home Minister Amit Shah also spoke to me over the phone and said he must face the election and win it.’Hence, he has bowed to the decision of the senior leaders. The party has made its decision.
While he felt that Bharat should not get the ticket this time, the party has placed its trust and given the opportunity.
Whatever he is today is because of the party. When the party places trust in himand makes a decision,he cannot say no.Regardless of his personal feelings, he has accepted the party’s decision.
He also addressed the local party workers asking them not to abandon me.The workers have also spoken emotionally. No matter what is in his heart, he has submitted himself to the party and society.
Even if the party had given the ticket to someone else locally, he would have worked with the same dedication as he would for my son.
However, without accepting my suggestion, the party leaders said it was a unanimous decision, and they asked him to win the election and come back victorious.
When asked about the challenges of the by-election, Bommai said this by-election is indeed a challenge. He has faced many by-elections in the past, both while in power and as part of the opposition.
The party has entrusted his son with the ticket, and now he must bow to that decision. This decision goes beyond all politics. He had to accept the party’s decision.
The emotions of the constituency workers must also be respected. The workers have said he must win, and he is confident of victory.
Replying to a question about family politics, Bommai said since this is a by-election,it is a special situation. His party has always said that the party is greater than the individual, and the country is greater than the party.
When senior leaders have placed their trust in him and given me responsibility, stepping back would mean stepping away from his responsibility.
Therefore, no matter what he feel in his heart, he had to bow to the decision. I owe all my positions and honors to the party. Thus, I have bowed to the decision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and National President J.P. Nadda.”
On the ticket issue in the Channapatna constituency, he said meetings are happening on both sides with the aim of winning in Channapatna. An NDA consensus candidate will be chosen.
Victory in Channapatna is theirs. Deputy CM D.K. Shivakumar is saying many things, but it’s not necessary to respond to everything.
