Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka has expressed impatience that people are creating misconceptions about the programs undertaken by the state government. He expressed anger that the opposition is misleading people by making false allegations. He said that he has no personal agenda except the idea of doing good to the people. Bhatti spoke at a media conference held at the Secretariat. Bhatti explained the details of encroached ponds in Hyderabad and surrounding areas between 2014 and 2023 through a PowerPoint presentation along with the officials.
“This is a public government. A transparent government. The opposition is making baseless allegations against the government. Ponds in Hyderabad are public property. Hyderabad means Rocks, Lakes and Parks. These make Hyderabad more attractive. Ponds have been disappearing in the city for the last few years. Many attempts have been made in the past to modernize Musi. Detecting encroachment of ponds through satellite maps. We are collecting the details of how many ponds were there at the time of the division of the state. Hydra was brought not for the CM or the ministers. Instead of alienating the ponds, we have brought new regulations. Ponds should be given to future generations,” explained Bhatti.
We are giving better than demolished houses..
“Even now, the encroachment of the ponds should be stopped. We turned it into drainage without fresh water in Musi. In the past, rivers were like drainage in other countries too.. they changed it. Other countries have turned rivers into assets. The opposition says that the beautification of Musi will cost Rs.1.50 lakh crore. How can you say that it will be Rs. lakh and a half crores without calling for tenders? The opposition parties should let us know their thoughts on the issue of Musi beautification. The people of Musi catchment area will not cause any trouble to anyone. We are giving houses to the evicted victims elsewhere. We are giving better houses than demolished houses. The agenda of the opposition is not to do good to the people. The opposition should give suggestions to make Hyderabad a global city. “We are ready to correct any small mistakes in the administration,” said Bhatti.
