In the Consumer Price Index 2024 August report, the Center revealed
that the indicators have increased by almost one hundred percent throughout the country during the Pushkar period.
The average man’s income in the country has doubled in the last 12 years without any change in living standards. The reason for that is that the prices of the basic essential commodities required for the daily life of the common man and to satisfy their hunger to medical services have increased at the same rate. These prices are still high in Telangana compared to other major states of the country. The latest Consumer Price Index 2024 August report released by the Ministry of Statistics makes this clear. In fact, the national average of prices seems to have increased by almost 100 percent, but if you look separately by region, there are some places that have increased by almost 200 percent.
What report?
‘Consumer Price Index’ (CPI) and ‘Consumer Food Price Index’ (CFPI) 2024 with price details collected from 1,114 urban markets and 1,181 villages across the country by field staff of National Sample Survey Organization The Center released the August report. The central report has explained the pattern of increase in the prices of essential commodities commodity-wise and state-wise.
Prices of vegetables and pulses are on the rise.
In August 2024 , compared to August 2023, the price inflation of meat, fish and spices in the country has come down, it said. The food price index rose to 203.4 from the national average of 192.5 during the year. Looking at all essentials in the country, the vegetable price index reached the highest national average of 260.6. Compared to last year, the inflation of vegetable prices has increased by 10.71 percent, while the inflation of pulses and their products has increased by 13.60 percent. Inflation of all types of essentials is 3.65 per cent.
There are fertile lands here..
The Center has explained how the state-wise Consumer Price Index (CPI) has increased between July and August 2024. For example, while the CPI was 100 points in 2012, it has been revealed state-wise how much it has reached in August 2024. Between 2012-24, the national average increased from 100 to 193 points. Tripura with 215, Manipur with 213.4 and Telangana with 201.6 points are in the first 3 positions. As Manipur and Tripura are remote in the north-eastern region of the country, it is natural that the transport charges are high and the prices of essentials are high. But Telangana, which has fertile lands and abundant resources, topped the major states with a CPI of 201.6, mirroring the rise in prices of essential commodities here.
Compared to major states.
The Center has separately released the details of 22 major states comparing the August 2024 points with the CPI points recorded in August 2023 . Of these, Telangana is at the top with a CPI of 201.6, while Jammu and Kashmir is at the 2nd and 3rd positions with 200.1 and Kerala with 198 points respectively. Telangana, which was at the top of 22 states with 197.6 points in August 2023, remained at the same position with 201.6 points in August 2024.
