The Sanjaynagar police on Wednesday registered a cheating,assault,criminal intimidation and outraging the modesty case against three people,including the son of BJP MP and Union Minister V Somanna .
The victim,Thrupthi and her husband Madhwaraj in the complaint alleged that they have been running an event management business and in 2013 met Arun B S,who introduced himself to them as son of V. Somanna,who is currently the Minister of State of Jal Shakti and Railways.
After couple of rounds of meetings In 2017,Madhwaraj had “successfully” organised the birthday party for Arun’s daughter.
Following this,the complainant claimed that Madhwaraj and Arun entered into a business relationship and started a company together.
The partnership deed and live and lease agreement was signed in February 2019,after investing 30 percent of the total investment .
“The ‘Neighbourhood’ companies financials, investments and other responsibilities was taken over by Arun.
Subsequently,when some projects were delayed and the growth of the company was not good,Arun allegedly refused to respond to the queries of Thrupthi and her husband.
The complaint alleged that ,Arun abused them in front of the other employees and forced us to resign in addition to forcefully reducing the percentage of share from 30 to 10 per cent .
Arun also refused to pay salaries to the employees forcing Madhwaraj had to pay them out of his pocket.
The complainant accused Arun of forcing the couple to sign fake share agreements, forced Madhwaraj to sign blank cheques and beat him up using a belt and table lamp when he resisted .
After the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020,the business took a hit and Thrupthi alleged that Arun converted the share agreement to a loan agreement and made them sign it forcibly.
Arun had appointed a man called Jeevan Kumar to follow Madhwaraj.They locked Madhwaraj in a dark room in different locations,beat him up,spit on him, sliced him using blades to force him to return the money,”Thrupthi claimed in the complaint.
The couple had paid Arun Rs.76 lakh through bank transfer and Rs.8 lakh in cash.
Arun allegedly forcibly made them to sign a loan agreement for Rs.65 lakh and harass and torture whenever they resisted.
In one instance,a man named Pramod slapped me and my children,” the complainant claimed.
The Sanjaynagar police have booked Arun,Jeevan Kumar and Pramod under Sections 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation),504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace),387 (putting person in fear of death or of grievous hurt,in order to commit extortion),420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property),477A (falsification of accounts),323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt),327 (voluntarily causing hurt to extort property,or to constrain to an illegal act),347 (wrongful confinement to extort property,or constrain to illegal act) and 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
