Notorious chain snatching gang leader and her associates arrested by Annapoorneshwarinagar police and recovered stolen property worth Rs.5 Lakhs

T he Annapoorneshwarinagar police on Saturday busted a notorious chain snatchers gang and arrested a 32-year-old woman who was running the gang comprising of his minor son and his friend.

The accused Roja,resident of Chintamani,working as labourer took to crime after his minor son aged 17 years was caught by the police for a series of robbery cases in and around Bengaluru.

Senior officer told reporters the accused son and his associates were involved in over 12 mobile snatching, robbery and extortion cases has been caught and remanded to state home for boys.

After his release,Roja roped in her son and his associates and hatched a plan for chain snatching.

As per the plan,she would visit the parks and residential areas to keep a watch on the elderly woman going on walks on regular basis .

After watching their movement,Roja would alert her son to rob the chain valuables and escape in the scooter .

The accused was arrested while she was trying to sell the robbed gold valuables at a pawn shop .

Based on the tip off a team of police led by Inspector AV Kumar, rushed to the spot and caught Roja and subsequently detained her son and his associates for questioning.

With their arrest the police have cracked five chain snatching cases reported in Kengeri,RR Nagar and Annapoorneshwarinagar station,he added.
