As many as 95 percent of the registration of private water tankers is completed,BWSSB Chairman,Dr Ramprasat Manohar said here on Sunday.
“Legal action will be initiated against those tankers which are still not registered,” the BWSSB Chairman added.
The BWSSB Chairman visited the slum areas of Bhashyam Park,Deenabandhu Nagar,Sri Rama nagari and other places and obtained first-hand information about the supply of drinking water through tankers.
“I have directed the officials to ensure proper supply of water where Cauvery water connection has already been given,” he added.
He further said that drinking water is being supplied free of cost through tankers to those areas where there is acute shortage of water.
The last date for registration of private tankers is over on March 15.
Ninety five percent of tankers are registered.At some places,tractors have been converted into water tankers.
Action will be taken against those tankers who failed to register within the deadline.
According to BWSSB Chairman,areas outside city limits have not yet been given cauvery water connection.
Dependency on ground water is heavy in those areas. BBMP is providing water supply in these areas.Steps will be taken to mitigate the water problems in the outskirts of BBMP (110 villages) limits.
“We have been monitoring the round-the-clock supply of water on behalf of the Board,” Dr Ramprasat Manohar explained.
