NCPCR chair person made surprise visit to women orphanage in Sampigehalli and alleged Nexus of traffickers

A

team of officials led by, NCPCR Chairperson Priyank Kanoongo made a surprise visit to women orphanage in sampigehalli police station and made a serious allegation that the inmates were groomed to marry off in Kuwait and suspected human trafficking network in the garb of marriage.

Tension prevailed when members of orphanage objected to the team which visited the orphanage without prior notice and started interacting with the inmates .

Speaking to the press Kanagaru,said “It is an illegal orphanage in Ashwath Nagar,Amarjyoti layout, Bengaluru.

We were inquiring about an illegal orphanage which was running there. 20 girl-child were kept, some of them were orphans,and semi-orphans.

We don’t know the precise number as they did not allow us to complete our inquiry.We spoke to children,our female councillors interacted with the girl children.

During the interaction,one girl-child informed us that the supreme candidate of the illegal orphanage ‘rishta lagwati hai Kuwait main.’

We saw there that children were being groomed to get married in the Gulf countries,so its apprehension that there may be a nexus of traffickers, who are sending girl children to Gulf countries in disguise for marriage….”

The team was soon escorted to sampigehalli police station as people gathered and protested against the team for creating unnecessary issue .

Mr. Kanagaru said though the police intervened and pacified the agitated crowd, the police refusing to file an FIR in this regard .
