37-year-old woman from Uzbekistan was found dead under mysterious circumstances at a three star hotel near BDA office in Seshadripuram police station limits.
The victim identified as Zareena,had checked in the hotel through a local contact few days ago.She had come to the city on a tourist visa.
She had rented a room in the hotel,four days back.The police found some assault marks on her body and police suspected that she had been assaulted before killing her by strangulation or suffocated to death.
The incident came to light on Wednesday afternoon around 4.30 pm when a caller tried to reach Zareena and later called the front desk to complain that Zareena was not responding.
The hotel management went to check and later opened the door using a spare key after no response and found her dead .
External injuries on the victim suggests that she must have been attacked.The accused is suspected to be known to the victim.
The manager of the hotel reported the matter to the police.The body has been sent to the Bowring Hospital’s mortuary for the postmortem.
The police team are checking the CCTV footage of the hotel and are also going through the registers of visitors and guests of the hotel to get a possible lead.
The police are checking the local contact person of Zareena and the person who called Zareena last night to ascertain their possible link to the death.
