he alert Sampigehalli police on Tuesday night chased and caught a rowdy and two of his associates red handed while they posing as policemen attempted to abduct a scrap dealer in a bid to extort ransom from him.
The accused identifed as Muzammil,a rowdy shetter and his associates Syed Shifaz and Yusuf has abducted a scrap dealer posing as policemen from his junk yard at Mitaganahalli forced him in a car stating that he need to be taken to the station for inquiry on Tuesday night .
While on the way,when the accused slow down the car noticing the patrolling policemen,the victim managed to slip away from the car and began to flee .
The trio started chasing the scrap dealer.Sensing fishy, the beat policemen chased and pin down the accused before alerting the station for back up .
The trio was taken to the station and a detailed questioning led them to confess to the crime.
According to the police,the accused was threatening rag pickers and scrap dealers in the area to extort money from them.
The accused assault and threaten the daily wage workers with dire consequences if the protection money is not paid .
The police have taken the accused into custody for further investigations .
