he Bidadi police on Sunday arrested a 35-year-old man and recovered 30 human skulls and bones which he had stored in a makeshift temple to perform ritual and black magic.
Based on the alert from the villagers a team of police rushed to Jogaradoddi village and arrested Balarama and seized the skulls and bones along with other material for further investigations.
The seized skulls and bones have been sent to FSL for analysis,a senior police officer,said.
He further said that the accused Balarama used to live alone in the farm land owned by him adjacent to Industrial area and never used to allow anyone.
He had constructed a shed at the corner of his land and converted into Kali temple. The police found the skulls and bones are kept around the kali portrait with a trident and vermillion indicating that he performed rituals frequently.,
Initial probe revealed that the accused would never allowed anyone in the temple and would visit graveyard in the night to perform rituals for sometime.
Worried villagers had warned him not to visit the graveyard but Balarama continue to visit the graveyard despite warning .
On Sunday being a Full moon day Balarama visited the graveyard which led the villagers to suspect his behaviour and ventured into the temple to notice the skulls and bones in the temple.
Based on the information,the police rushed to the spot and arrested Balarama and subjected him for questioning to ascertain the source of the skulls.
A high school drop out Balarama used to live in the ancestral property and had a property dispute with his relatives .
He used to own a hotel and also worked in as caretaker of a graveyard from where he suspected to have collected the skulls and bones, the villagers alleged.
Balarama used to live in the temple as the police recovered few utensils and clothes from the makeshift temple.
The police also seized the utensils and clothes and subjected for analysis.Villagers told the police that the accused was practicing black magic to gain special power to be used against his rivals .
The police are awaiting for the FSL report to further investigations.
