he Vidhana Soudha police detained a couple who attempted to end their life by pouring kerosene for self immolation in front of Vidhana Soudha on Wednesday alleging cheating by a bank .
The couple identified as 48-year-old Shahista Banu and her husband Mohammad Muneebulla,from JJ Nagar were arrested under attempt to suicide and creating nuisance and later released on station bail .
The couple claimed that they had borrowed a business loan of Rs.50 lakh few years ago and repaid upto Rs.90 lakh including the interest.
However due to financial problem they could not repay the rest for which the bank had seized the house worth Rs.3 crore and auctioned it for Rs.1.41 crore .
The couple had requested the bank and even reportedly met Minister for Housing,Muzarai and Wakf Zameer Ahmad Khan seeking help but in vain.
