Drug smuggling racket busted by Railway Police by arresting 7 drug peddlers among two food delivery boys recovered 9 kgs of Marijuana

Alert Railway police on Sunday busted a drug smuggling racket and arrested two food delivery boys trying to smuggle 9 kilos of Marijuana which they brought it from Odisha on Sunday .

The duo identified as Nityananda Das,37 and Rajesh Das,25 from Odisha and Tripura were caught red handed while they were waiting at the entrance of the Loco pilot training centre .

Senior officer told reporters,Assistant Sub Inspector,Y Shankaran and his colleagues,Shivanand K and Mahantesh Teli,confronted the duo sitting with the bags and behaving suspiciously .

Upon checking the bag they found Marijuana packed in their two bags.

Upon questioning the duo revealed that they had purchased the drugs from tribal near Bhadrak railway station for a price of Rs.10,000 per kilos and brought it to the city to sell it ahead of new year.

They had come to the city in general bogie in Prashanthi Express,waiting for the crowd and the police to clear out .

The police have recovered two mobile phones from the accused and analyzing the Call record details to ascertain whether the duo was part of the peddling network .

Senior officer further told that since last one week a total of 31 kilos of Marijuana mostly coming from Odisha.

A total of 4 cases under NDPS has been registered and as many as seven people have been arrested , she said .

As part of the special drive, special teams of police in mufti has been formed to keep a track on the peddlers.

The police personnel have been trained on how to identify the suspects based on their behaviour and also stepped up vigil on the railway tracks where the peddlers probably dump the consignment few meters away from the station.
