International level Wild life smuggling racket busted by Bengaluru Customs officials recovers 234 wild animals from smuggler.Baby Kangaroo found dead

O fficials of the customs at Kempegowda International Airport busted an international wild life smuggling racket and arrested a man carrying reptiles and dead body of baby Kangaroo concealed in the trolley bags on Monday night .

The accused hails from Chennai was trying to pass through exit gate of the international arrival area when the officials of the Air intelligence confronted him .

Upon checking his bag they found a baby Kangaroo suffocated to death.

The officials also recovered a total of 234 reptiles including python,chameleon,iguana,turtles and alligators concealed in the trolley bags.

These animals are listed in the appendices of conventions of international trade in endangered species of wild fauna and flora (CITES.The reptiles have been rescued and handed over safely to the Forest Department.

The accused according to the officials aged 32-year-old from Tamil Nadu was part of international smuggling racket and further investigations are on to ascertain his network .

The claimed he was unaware on the contents of the suitcase as it was handed over to him at Bangkok and was ordered to take it to Bengaluru.
