Pillion rider crushed to death by tipper lorry & rider escaped narrowly in road accident at Chikkagollahatti

39-year-old carpenter was killed and the rider escaped narrowly when they were riding and was knocked down by a tipper lorry at Chikkagollahatti on Magadi main road on Saturday night.

The deceased Santosh,native of Gulbarga was returning home on bike from work when the accident occurred at around 7.30 pm.

The tipper lorry while navigating through the bad patch of road knock down the bike and ran over pillion who came under the moving vehicle.

Soon many people who were passing by gathered at the accident spot and vented their ire blaming the bad patch of the road which is causing accidents.

Residents said that they are witnessing accident on that particular stretch almost everyday and demanded the authorities concerned to take immediate action.

The Madanayakanahalli police rushed to the spot and cleared the protest site convincing the people to convey their message.

Senior officer said there was a road widening work which is going on the particular stretch and the work stopped for few days at 1.5 kilometers stretch after a group of owners of commercial establishments brought a stay objecting to the road widening.Since then the road was left unattended till the stay is vacated .

Due to the recent spell of rains the stretch was turned bad to worse endangering the motorists .

The protest was cleared and the body has been shifted for post-mortem for further investigations, a officer, said.
