West Bengal:2024 Lok Sabha Election, winning at 18 seats are far away, will it be even double digits for Bengal BJP. lost everywhere again at recent Panchayet Polls

Abhijit Ray, Kolkata: -In the coming Lok Sabha Polls Bengal BJP’s this year’s target is 35 seats! Union Home Minister Amit Shah has set a target for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections for the Bengal BJP. But that’s a long way off! In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the saffron party had won 18 seats in West Bengal. Since then, their spirit has been in shambles in the state. After the results of the just-concluded panchayat elections, top BJP leaders are currently sceptical about retaining the 18 seats next year. There is a lot of buzz within the party now – if there is a vote now, can BJP reach even double digits in Bengal, 18 numbers are just in dream even!!!According to statistics, BJP MPs in Bengal are under a lot of pressure in terms of party votes polled in the panchayat elections. The worst situation  is the party’s state president Sukanta Majumdar, national vice-president Dilip Ghosh, Locket Chatterjee, SS Ahluwalia and Kunar Hembram’s area. These five Lok Sabha constituencies include both urban and rural areas. In those rural areas concerned, they were even virtually unavailable in terms of vote share. Despite winning the last Lok Sabha elections by a huge margin, four other saffron MPs — Union ministers Nishith Pramanik, Shantanu Thakur, John Barla and Dr Subhash Sarkar — are in a serious “state of shock” after the recent panchayat poll results. Union ministers Nishith Pramanik, Shantanu Thakur, John Barla and Dr Subhash Sarkar are in a similar situation. Even Darjeeling MP Raju Praskar has left a trail in the hills of the Anit Thapa-TMC alliance. The only exceptions in this situation are Saumitra Khan and Jagannath Sarkar. In the wake of the results, Bengal leaders have already come under fire from the BJP’s central party, political sources said. So, the Modi-brigade is in favour of a slow-motion policy on the Lok Sabha polls.Top BJP sources said the Bengal leaders have been asked to first ensure victory in the seats won and then think about everything else. In other words, there is a clear indication that Amit Shah’s dream of capturing 35 seats is going to be ‘crushed’ again. It is learnt that in the eight-nine months leading up to the Lok Sabha elections, central leaders are trying to bring the role of every MP from Bengal under the scanner. If necessary, the BJP may also go for a change of candidate in the seats it won last time.
