Cottonpet police arrested Street vendor for harassing YouTube vlogger from the Netherlands

In a swift action,the Cottonpet police on Monday arrested a street vendor for misbehaving with a Netherlands based you tuber while he was recording the video on the busy street for his channel.

The accused has been identified as,Navab Hayath Sharif,by Profession as Auto driver a resident of Old Gudadahalli.

In a video posted from his YouTube channel ‘Madly Rover’, the Dutch Youtuber Pedro Mota was seen getting harassed by a shopkeeper in the city’s busy market while making a vlog.

In the video titled,Attacked At The Thieves Market In India, a shopkeeper can be seen grabbing Mota’s hand aggressively, as the Dutch national pleaded to let go.

Posting the video of the incident on his YouTube channel “Madly Rover” on Monday, Mota wrote, “Foreigner traveling in India experiences the thieves market in Bangalore,also known as the Sunday market or chor bazaar.

But exploring the area started out on the wrong foot as an angry man attacked me by grabbing and twisting my hand and arm,lunging after me as I tried to escape.

After I had some street food,met great local Indian people and haggled for a new buttoned shirt.”

Senior officer told reporters,The victim,Pedro Mota was passing through the busy sultanpet street and giving live commentary about the area when the accused identified as Navab Hayath Sharif,a clothes vendor confronted him and misbehaved objecting to his video being recorded .

Pedro tried to reason but Sharif become aggressive and tried to snatch his camera.Pedro managed to escape from the situation and later the video of the incident went viral .

Based on a twitter complaint by Mudassir Ahmed, citing the harassment to the foreign guests by the vendor,Deputy Commissioner of Police,West division, Lakshman Nimbargi,directed the police to take legal action.

Based on the complaint,the Cottonpet police took a Suo Motto case and as the video went viral in various social media platforms Cottonpet Police Inspector Balraj and his crime team based on technical support they track down Sharif and arrested him under the Karnataka Police Act .

Responding to a tweet seeking action against the guy who misbehaved with Mota,Bengaluru police said, action has been taken and the person concerned rounded up.Strict action will be taken against him.No such misbehaviour with foreign tourists will be tolerated.

In the description of video,he mentioned that “A man attacked me by grabbing & twisti ng my hand & arm, lunging after me as I tried to escape”.

Bengaluru City Police Commissioner B Dayananda responded on twitter and said It’s a old video which has come into circulation now. The person harassing in the video has been identified traced and action taken. No scope for such highhandedness in Namma Bengaluru against anybody B Dayananda Commissioner of Police said on twitter in response to Anshul Saxena who posted a video on twitter.

Anshul Saxena responded to Commissioner of Police saying that,Dear sir @CPBlr

With due respect, I want to inform you that the vlogger (victim) uploaded this video yesterday only, around 19 hours ago. So,video is not old & it has never been circulated before.

Thank you for taking action against the man who mishandled & targeted the vlogger.

Immediately commissioner responded by saying I meant the incident is old. Has happened about two months back he said on twitter.

Confirming the development, DCP West Lakshman Nimbargi said section 92 of the Karnataka Police Act has been imposed on Sharif.

Section 92 prescribes punishment for street offences and nuisance and imposes a fine which may extend to Rs 100 and in case of default of payment of such fine shall not exceed eight days notwithstanding anything in section 67 of the IPC he added.
