Bengaluru CCB sleuths raided shops and seized banned e-cigarette along with foreign brand cigarettes products worth Rs.3.7 lakhs

Continuing crack down on banned tobacco items,the CCB officials on Wednesday raided a shop and seized banned e-cigarettes along with foreign brand cigarettes worth Rs.3.7 lakh .

The officials also arrested two persons under Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act,2003 for further investigations.The CCB is now trying to ascertain the sources of the cigarettes.

Senior officer told reporters Based on the information, a team of officials raided the smoke shop situated on 5th block Koramangala and seized the banned tobacco items which are being sold openly despite central government banned the sale of e-cigarettes .

Taking a serious note on the e-cigarettes causing serious health concerns,the central government banned the sale,storage,and manufacture of e-cigarettes in the country.

However despite ban,smuggling of e-cigarettes continue in metro cities and the shops are found selling it openly in May this year,the CCB officials raided a godown in Kumbarapete and arrested two people and recovered Rs.1.2 crore worth e-cigarette and its products he added.
