In a swift action,the VV Puram police rescued an eight-day-old baby boy within 72 hours after being kidnapped from Vani Vilas hospital on Saturday.
The accused identified as Divya Rashmi,29,had an abortion and desperately wanted a baby. She decided to steal the baby from hospitals and went around Victoria hospital,KIMS,KC General hospital,Bowring hospital,Rajiv Gandhi Hospital before going to Vani Vilas Hospital where the victim Suma HK was sleeping with her new born baby boy .
Suma,a resident of Tiptur had admitted to hospital for delivery on April 7 and delivered a baby.
The doctor asked Suma to stay for two more days as she was anemic and needed treatment.
While Suma and the baby boy was sleeping, the accused ventured into the hospital,picked up the baby and vanished .
Based on the complaint,a team of police led by Inspector Mirza Ali Raza,analyzed around 600 CCTV footage starting from Vani Vilas to trail till Ramanagar Ijoor before arresting the accused Divya Rashmi charging under kidnapping .
The police Rescued the baby and reunited with the mother . It was a emotional reunion where the mother hugged the baby and cried while thanking the police .
P Krishnakant, DCP,South division lauded the police team for cracking the case in record time.
