IS operative held in Bengaluru by ISD and NIA

n a joint operation,officials of the Internal Security Division (ISD) in association with sleuths of National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrested a software engineer for alleged links with the proscribed Islamic State(IS),in the city in the wee hours of Saturday.

He had allegedly planned to join the terror group in Syria shortly.

The accused Mohammed Arif,native of UP and residing in Manjunathnagar in Thanisandra was picked up from his house in Thanisandra where he was remotely working for an IT firm for the last two years.

The details of accused persons arrested today are as follows:Mohd Arif,S/o,Mohd Mubarak Hussain, Resident of Thanisandra and Hamraz Worshid Shaikh, S/o Worshid, R/o.Palghar Road,Thane,Maharashtra.

He was allegedly in constant touch with ISIS handlers online and planned to visit Syria this March through Iraq and Afghanistan.

In March he was planned to visit Syria again leaving behind his wife and two children in the city,when the sleuths picked him up.

The officials questioning his wife and recovered his laptop and freezed his bank accounts for further details .

Sultana,a neighbour,said Arif never ventured out and always stayed home.He never interacted with anyone in the locality, she said.

Karnataka Home Minister,Araga Jnanendra said,Yesterday night a man by name Mohammed Arif was picked up by internal security division police from Thanisandra in Bengaluru following a specific input and are interrogating him.

Police have got information that he had links with international terror outfits.His interrogation is continuing.

NIA conducts searches in Mumbai,Bengaluru in terror conspiracy case

Meanwhile NIA conducts searches at 2 locations in connection with terror module cases.

After conducting searches at two locations in Bangalore and Mumbai on Saturday NIA is probing 2 suspects in a terror conspiracy case.

Searches were conducted at Thanisandra,Bengaluru and Palghar,Thane in Karnataka and Maharashtra with the active help of ISD,Karnataka and local police.

Inputs had revealed that these 2 suspects were in contact with foreign based online handlers affiliated to proscribed terrorist organisations over encrypted communication platforms.

And that they were involved in a conspiracy to radicalize youth over social media platforms and provoke them to indulge in acts of violence and terrorism.

The case was initially registered at Tilaknagar Police Station, Bengaluru,Karnataka State and re-registered by NIA on November .2022.

During these searches,various digital devices and documents have been seized.

Further investigations in the case are in progress.
