BJP’s Uttarakhand police lathi charges on a protester on recruitment scam, curfew-imposed curfew

Abhijit Ray,Kolkata:Job seekers protested against the rampant corruption in the state’s recruitment. The Uttarakhand Police has imposed a curfew to stop them. Police have been pelting stones and lathi-charging protesters since Thursday. Since Friday, the administration has been desperate to stop the protests. That is why a curfew has been imposed up to 300 meters from the parade ground in Dehradun.The opposition Congress has already demanded a CBI probe into the recruitment scam.Dehradun has been on the boil since Thursday, claiming that there has been major corruption in recruitment in several fields, including police and clerks. A large number of job seekers came together and started the protest program. The police took an aggressive role to stop the protests. The police were accused of throwing stones at the protesters. Many of the protesters were seriously injured. Police personnel was also reportedly injured in the attack.The main opposition party in the state, the Congress, has supported the protesters from the very beginning. The Congress had earlier demanded that the CBI investigate the recruitment scam. Strongly protesting the behavior of the police on Thursday, the party said that police brutality cannot be accepted because of making a fair demand. The Congress also plans to hold programs at all party headquarters in the state on Friday in support of the protesters.There were allegations of corruption in multiple examinations of the State Staff Selection Committee of Uttarakhand. In August, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami canceled the results of all the tests. “A detailed investigation into the incident is underway,” he said after the protests began on Thursday. 20 people have already been arrested on corruption charges. ”
