A fter the Karnataka State Legal Services Authority submitted a resolution on January 27,the Karnataka State Transport Department has reportedly agreed to offer hefty rebates on traffic challans for a limited period.
The KSLSA resolution requested the state department to facilitate ‘justice for all’ in regard to traffic fines imposed for violations.
According to an order issued by the Karnataka government, a 50 percent rebate/discount on payment of traffic challans is applicable across the state, up till February 11.
The discount is in place as a ‘one-time’ measure and is applicable on unpaid and fresh violations recorded up till February 11.
In major cities such as Bengaluru, the traffic police departments are also offering online payment services for ease of transactions.Collaborations with payment gateways such as Paytm, Karnataka one have been drummed up to facilitate the same.
On the third day of the 50 per cent discount offer on the payment of pending fines for traffic violations, the Traffic management centre officials collected Rs.6.32 crore,which is 1.3 crore more than the first day.
According to an official release,a total of Rs.6,31,77,750 against 2,06,326 traffic violations,The total fine amount collected since the launch of the scheme is Rs.22,32,47,491,against 7,41,048 traffic violations.
It may be recalled that on Thursday the state government announced 50 percent concession on the pending fine of traffic violations for a period till February 11.
