78 people caught drink-driving on New Year’s Eve in Bengaluru Says MN Anucheth

The traffic police have registered a total of 78 Drunk driving cases from in and around the city.

Thanking motorists for driving responsibly,Special Commissioner of Police traffic,MA Saleem and MN Anucheth attributed this to positive response of the people and strict enforcement .

The traffic police a day before the new year celebration had requested people visiting CBD areas on 31st night to use public transport .

As a result the metro services and the BMTC and even autorickshaw were running successful while the private vehicle movements in the CBD areas is minimal.

According to the rough estimation,close to one lakh people visited in and around MG road and if everyone had their private vehicle the area would have chocked,a senior officer,said.

In addition to this the police have discouraged the use of bikes and shut down flyovers and intensified the patrolling and picketing with checks at strategic locations across the city,led to not only reduce road accidents,but also number of drunk driving cases.
