Abhijit Ray, Kolkata :This time the police will not be able to take strict action against Shuvendu Adhikari in the Kanthi tender corruption case. Judge RajshekharManthar of Calcutta High Court gave such an order on Tuesday. The protection period of the opposition party leader has been extended till January 17. The judge said that like the previous five cases, the state police cannot take strict action against Shuvendu in the tender corruption case. The next hearing of the case is January 5.On this day, Shuvendu Adhikari’s lawyer complained to the court that on November 29, the court had given protection to the leader of the opposition party in the state. However, on November 28, the state police filed a complaint against Shuvendu for tender corruption. What was hidden from the court by the state, BJP leader’s lawyer complained in the High Court on Tuesday. The AG will plead for the state in the next hearing.Incidentally, there are a total of 26 FIRs against the opposition leader in the state in different police stations. In view of that, Subhendu Adhikari approached the High Court. There, the opposition party leader complained that he was being victimized due to the change of party. Justice Rajasekhar Mantha observed in that case, Subhendu Adhikari was at one point in Trinamool. He is currently an opposition leader. Elected by popular vote.As a result, the police themselves or on the instructions of someone else may try to stop the work of the opposition party leader by filing one charge after another against him.That is why Calcutta High Court granted interim stay in 26 FIRs filed against Subhendu. Besides, Justice Mantha also informed that no new FIR can be filed against Subhendu without the permission of Calcutta High Court. Even after that, a complaint was filed in his name, Shuvendu’s lawyer claimed.
