The Vijayanagar police on Thursday arrested a gang of six who assaulted and robbed a bike dealer and escaped with his super bike worth Rs.16 lakh on November 10 .
The accused has been identified as Vishwas AL, 23,a second hand car dealer,Jagannath N,21, student,Gajendra SS,34,former lecturer at a private college and presently running a hotel,Likith Kumar, 29,Shashank S,27,and Pawan K,21,both are students in a private college .
Senior officer told reporters, the prime accused Vishwas,had a history of cheating people on the pretext of getting them high end cars for throwaway prices.
He noticed Mohammed Asif,another car dealer having the super bike and put up advertisement on social media for sale .
The accused on the pretext of prospective clients approached him offered to buy the BMW bike for Rs. 16 lakh .
Vishwas as per the plan paid Rs.3 lakh to Jagannath his associate from Doddaballapur for the job and roped him for the plan.
As per the plan they met Asif who got the bike to finalize the deal and assaulted him and fractured his left hand before robbing his bike,i-phone and Rs. 35,000 from him .
The accused had even tried to abduct Asif in a car but he managed to resist and raised alarm prompting the passers-by to rush to his help.
Sensing trouble the accused abandoned the car and escaped.Based on the complaint,Vijayanagar Inspector,Santosh Kumar,swung into action and track down the accused through the registration number of the abandoned car.
The police have recovered the robbed bike and three cars used by the accused to commit the offence .
The police have booked them under abduction, robbery and assault and taken them into custody for further investigations.
