A Meeting on Joint Parcel Product (JPP) was convened today by Indian Railways and India Post in Bengaluru Railway Divisional Office.
G.V.L.Satya Kumar,Executive Director,Strategic Planning and Implementation,Railway Board, chaired the meeting.
Shyam Singh,Divisional Railway Manager,South Western Railway,Dr.Anup Dayanand Sadhu,Chief Commercial Manager,Catering & Passenger Services,L.K.Dash,Post Master General,India Post, Dr. Aman Deep Kapoor, Additional Divisional Railway Manager (Operations) and other Officers of Railways and India Post were present in the meeting.
Representatives from Industry and Trade, Stakeholders from Chamber of Commerce, Industrial Associations, Confederation of Indian Industries (CII), Logistic Providers and officials from Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC) also attended the meeting.
G V L Satya Kumar,in his key note address stated that the meeting has been called in the background of an important announcement made in the Union Budget 2022-23 that Railways in integration with Postal Department should take a lead in providing seamless solutions for movement of parcels wherein first mile and last mile connectivity will be taken care by India Post and transportation requirements by Indian Railways.
He also underlined the need to expand the Proof of Concept (PoC) model of “Rail Post Gati Shakti – Joint Parcel Product service” implemented at Surat for Origin Destination (OD) pair between Surat and Varanasi which will help in identifying and implementation of JPP between multiple ODs across the country and to run train loads.
The stakeholders were explained in detail about proof of concept including handling mechanism, positives and other new initiatives in pipeline.
Queries of participants were taken and fruitful discussions were held on expansion and implementation of JPP by Indian Railways and India Post.
The Stakeholders were invited to offer their valuable suggestions to the Divisional Railway Manager, South Western Railway, Bengaluru Division or the Chief Post Master General, Bengaluru.
