Man from Kerala trying to circulate fake currency note of Rs.500 denomination caught by alert petrol pump staff and arrested by Wilson garden police

The alert petrol pump staff on last tuesday caught a 30-year-old man from Kerala trying to circulate fake currency note of Rs.500 denomination after getting fuel for his car.

The accused later identified as Akhil George went to SM Kannappa automobile private limited situated on Lalbagh road and asked the attendant to fill the fuel for Rs.900.

While paying the bill George paid five notes including four Rs.100 denominations with Rs.500 note which was found to be relatively thinner than the usual currency note .

Suspecting something amiss,the attendant alerted the police who rushed to the spot and detained George along with the car.

The police later grilled him who spilled the beans and based on his statement the team recovered fake currency of Rs.500 denomination worth Rs.22,500.

A detailed investigation by the team it has revealed that the George was part of the gang from Kerala which is printing and circulating fake currency notes in the market.

The Wilson garden police are investigating further to unearth more about George and his gang .
