Mamata Banerjees Green drive gets global recognition at climate conference in Egypgt

 Abhijit Ray, Kolkata:Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s ‘green-initiative’ was widely praised at the United Nations (UN) World Conference on Climate Change. Even as the national leader of the country, the way she went to increase public awareness about greening on Environment Day has won the praise of representatives of different countries and cities.Environmentalists at the Climate Change Conference held in Egypt’s “Sharm Al Sheikh” city praised his initiative to quickly create trees in Kolkata and South Bengal, which were badly damaged after Amphan. MLA and Mayor Parishad Debashis Kumar is representing Kolkata and Bengal in the conference. Inaugurated by US President Joe Biden.Countries of Europe, Africa, Asia as well as Latin America are participating in the conference. Speaking on behalf of Calcutta, Debashis highlighted the greening of Bengal in the last 11 years. Kolkata gave a pollution-free Diwali and said, “Amfan later on the instructions of the Chief Minister, about 1 lakh 75 thousand trees were distributed in the city in just one year. Another 1 lakh 25 thousand trees will be planted in Kolkata by March 2023 to prevent pollution. Eco-friendly ‘green-verge’ sits on the roadsides of Kolkata including BallyganjFadi, Jodhpur Park.Countries of Europe, Africa, Asia as well as Latin America are participating in the conference.
