CM Bommai instructs to start construction of hostels soon

Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai instructed officials to start the construction of Deendayal Upadhyaya Souharda Hostel,100 Ambedkar Students Hostels and 12 residential schools which are announced in the State Budget after the next Cabinet meeting.

Reviewing progress of of SCSP and TSP schemes in the Departments of Public works and Rural Development & Panchayat Raj here on Saturday,he asked officials of Department of Social Welfare,Minorities Welfare and Backward Classes Welfare to pool resources to construct five Deendayal Upadhyaya Souharda Students Hostels at an estimated cost of Rs.400 crore.

Already, contribution of the Departments of Minorities Welfare and social welfare are released, and the works must be started without delay.

Under SCP & TSP plan in the Public Works Department, Rs.243 crore available must be used to take the first phase construction of 100 Ambedkar Residential Schools and 12 Residential Hostels.The funds will be released depending upon the progress of the project,he said.

In the RDPR Department,the funds available under SCP/TSP must be spent as per time-table.

The CM’s Principal Secretary N.Manjunath Prasad, Additional Chief Secretary (RDPR) L.K.Atheeq,PWD Secretary S.Selvakumar,Social Welfare Department Secretary P.Manivannan, Finance Department Secretary Ekroop Kaur, CM’s Secretary M.S.Srikar and other officials were present.
